A party and some glowworms!
Last weekend, I had my second visitor - Susan. Susan has been hooning all over NZ checking out the sights for a month or two and came back through Rotorua for a couple of days over the weekend. Unfortunately, we didn't have the greatest weather while she was here - it rained heaps (how surprising!) but we did do some cool stuff.
On Saturday night, one of the girls from work had a fantasy themed birthday party. Due to lack of inspiration and appropriate costuming, Susan and I went as witches. I thought it would probably be one of those parties where everyone reverts to their normal clothing half-way through the night so best not to go too overboard. I was so wrong! I don't think I've been to a costume party where people have gone to so much effort. There were smurfs, devils, porn stars, a gargoyle, a christmas tree, a little green man, money and even a chewbacca and a princess leia! It was fantastic! So here are a few photos.

Me, Susan and another witch (Gerty)
James Bond, Leia and Chewbacca
On Sunday, after we hauled our tired bodies out of bed, Susan and I drove over to Waitomo (about 2 hours west of Rotorua) to do a tour of some glow worm caves. It was such an awesome thing to do. We went on a tour called Spellbound that took us into some caves where we had a close up look at some glow worms, then we jumped on a boat, turned the lights out and got taken along a river in the pitch black so we could see the glow worms glow. It was so cool - after about 10-15 minutes your night vision gets so good that the glow worms seem brighter and brighter!
