Scion does Christmas
I've been a bit slack about keeping up my blog recently so thought I'd add a few posts today to make up for lost time. Since I went to Queenstown, way back in mid-December, lots has happened. I guess Christmas is the big one. Here at Scion (my work, also known as Forest Reseach or ensis, depending on the day and who you talk to!) we celebrated in style with a Hawaiian Luau. All this really meant was that work hired one of those dodgy mechanical surfboards and we all got to wear ridiculously brightly coloured outfits with floral motifs. All in all is was a good day. Our staff of 400 or so turned out in force. We had a spit roast and there was much drinking, playing of soccer, sitting on the lawn in the (almost) sun and laughing at people who nose-dived off the mechanical surf board. Our research group also started out the day with cocktails at morning tea time on the deck where we usually have smoko. So needless to say, but the time lunchtime rolled around, some people were ready for bed....Here are a few pics:
