I almost forgot Malaysia
In all my effort to finish my blogs about Bangladesh, I almost forgot to put in something about my time in Malaysia on the way home. I had a whole day stop over in KL and I really enjoyed it. Of course, after somewhere like Dhaka, KL was clean and organised and very easy to get around. There is a terrific train system which takes you from the airport into town and then the trains are really good for getting around. I hadn't really done much research about what to do in KL - only a short skim of Lucy's Asia on a Shoestring Lying Planet the day before I left Banga. So I followed my tourist nose to the famous Petronas twin towers (from the Bond movie and that Entrapment one) and signed up for an afternoon tour. The view from the sky bridge (which is about 42 floors up) is amazing, although the fact that it moves a bit in the wind is a bit disconcerting.
I spent most of the rest of the day wandering around, jumping on trains and seeing all sorts of different mosques and temples. Malaysia seems like a cool place because there are people of so many different religions who live there. So I went to a Mosque and a Hindu temple. And there were some pretty amazing looking buildings all over the place. I enjoyed it - next time I'm passing I will try and stay for longer -there seems to be heaps of interesting stuff to do!
