Is there a doctor in the house?

Graduation was fun. I had forgotten how much I'd enjoyed dressing up in my academic gown for my honours gradation - it's really cool. You feel kind of medieval but also special because it's not something you'd usually wear! (At least one would hope so!).
Anyway, both mum and dad flew over from Perth for the occassion, plus my flatmate Karen came over with me from Rotorua, plus a whole bunch of my friends (Ali, Jill and Smithski) from Hobart came along too, as well as two out of three supervisors. So it was pretty good really. The actual ceremony was quite fun - a couple of my undergraduate students graduated in the same ceremony which was quite nice. The best bit though, was when it was my turn and the guy at the lecturn had to read out my thesis title and summary. He'd been great at everyone else's, but in the middle of mine, he had this massive coughing fit...... very hard not to laugh out loud whilst on stage!

After the graduation there was a quick afternoon tea and the obligatory photos. I didn't want to give my gown back, but they wrestled it off me and then it was off to Soak Bar for a party.

The best present of all though was the blog entry Lucy did for me in Bangladesh. She couldn't come all the way back for just one weekend so instead she celebrated Bangladesh style (kinda). She made a sign that said Congratulations Anna (in English and Bangla) and then took it everywhere, taking photos with all sorts of random people..... It was terrific!
