International dinners

One of the cool things about living in Rotorua is the number of international students and scientists who come here to work. Recently, a whole bunch of us have been getting together every now and then for dinner and each time, some cooks a traditional meal from their country. So far we've had German meat patties with potatoes and stuffed eggs German soup with spek, pears and beans, Scottish stovies, scurly and beans, Danish pork and potatoes with parsley sauce
plus meals from Chile, Sweden, Italy and NZ. The most popular foods so far have been potatoes, beans and apples (for dessert we've had apple strudel, apple cake and baked apples). This week it's my turn, and after careful consideration I've decided to make Aussie meat pies with peas and sauce. Plus either a chocolate and beetroot cake or a trifle. I really wanted to make something with wallaby mince but it's hard to come by here....
