The most awesome weekend
Not last weekend but the weekend before has got to go down as one of the best weekends ever. It started on Friday night with drinks at the work social club:
The party shenanigans started early with crazy Jan and his red wellies!
Tara and me with our poi
The real stuff starts
This was followed up by a BBQ and party at the work village flats. People here always seem to do such good parties - one room was totally cleared out as a dance floor with disco lights and a smoke machine! Then, outside in the yard, there was fire twirling and more dancing. I went with my friend Lucy and we danced the night away (pretty much literally - we didn't get home until well into the morning). And we finished the night off with a 1/2 hour walk home through the redwood forest.

The real stuff startsI only got about two hours sleep as I had to get up the next morning to go to the hairdressers! So I spent most of Saturday sleeping and blobbing around the house until about 4pm when Lisa, Lucy, Tara, Daniel and I all went out to the blue lake (just outside Rotorua) for the blue lake dub - an afternoon and evening of kiwi bands like Kora and Katchafire. It was great! The stage was set up in front of the lake with lots of grass in front for picnic rugs. And as the night came and it got darker and colder, we just had to dance more!
This is a dodgy pic I took with my phone but you get the idea - sunny day, good music, lake in the background, good food, nice company....(And yes, there were heaps more people by late afternoon!)
Then on Sunday I spent the day sleeping and packing up to go away for a week in the field (more on that later). So, might not sound like much but I had a really great time and my friend Lucy agrees - it will go down in history as one of the great weekends of the Rotorua summer!
