Forests in Denmark

One of the advantages of working in forests is that you get to visit all sorts of pretty places. Early last week, I went with some of my collaborators into Copenhagen for a spot of urban forestry. We visited a number of very pretty gardens and parks to inspect some trees. The pic above is a random palace in one of these parks.

No, we're not blowing up this tree below, just using a special sonic instrument to look for decay inside the trunk and see if it's in danger of falling on anyone! The guys standing around are gardeners from the park.
Last weekend, I went to Jutland, the part of Denmark attached to mainland Europe, to visit some forests. It was really pretty. Here are some pictures:

Yes, I was actually working, not just taking photos of fungi....

If you stare at trees for long enough you start to go a bit mental....
