The Maori Village

A couple of weekends ago, I went out to a traditional Maori village for dinner and a concert. A warrior came to check out whether we were visiting in peace, and then one of the women from the tribe welcomed us into the village by singing a song.

The first time....

This was my first experience of geothermal activity in NZ. It's the craters of the moon outside Taupo. Bizzare how the vents just pop up in the middle of otherwise very ordinary landscape.
The best bit is the hissing noise all the steam vents make (bit hard to capture on camera though!).
